Computing for Seniors - Yikes is that me?
Whether you are 50 or 60 and older, it seems really difficult to start learning the computer if you haven't up until now. As a continuous student of learning new skills, and the mother of two college and beyond girls, I have to keep up the latest computer skills. If you want to learn how to begin to use the computer or understand the Internet more - find your teenage grandchild to get you started. One thing they have that you lost is they are NOT AFRAID of trying something new.
As we age, it feels like it is a big deal to learn something, go to a different place for dinner or even gosh forbid try a different hairstyle. I believe the essence of staying young is trying new adventures. Adventures could be just learning something simple like the computer. Of course, one could say, "Oh you can say that you're young...." But actually once you start it is alot of fun. Besides there are so many, many things you can learn from it. You can play Bridge, Chess, learn new words, keep in touch with your family, Skype (real time viewing of someone else - like talking to someone on the TV.) You'll be surprised how much fun you'll have by just jumping in and feel so much more in touch with todays kids as well as other seniors. Don't get old!
But I have a couple of suggested websites that someone who is showing you how to work your computer can guide you there. At least try!
